Email #2 "Malaria and other African Specialties"
Hey all! It seems that I may possibly be able to access email once a week, assuming that I'm one of the first ones in line after lunch..... any way, hope everyone is doing wonderfully.

Things here are pretty much the same as they were last week, but since I could get to email I just thought I'd let you all know that I'm still alive. We've been spending a lot of time in french classes, so those in my class have been a little bored waiting for the others to learn enough that we can go on to learn other things. We'll be making concrete next week and then learning how to build latrines and to work on wells and water pumps.... so exciting! I also learned this week all about adultery and divorce. Very interesting. It's only considered adultery if it's a married woman cheating, because polygamy is all the rage here, so a married man can fool around with as many women as he wants. Freaks.

I'm getting accustomed to life in the host family. The roosters start crowing at 5:30 every morning, and the baby just started sleeping through the night. So all the kids and the household is awake by 6:15, and I'm not very far behind. We've been having classes all day long (8am-6pm) Monday thru Saturday, and then we have to go home and do homework and hang out with our host families.... so I have written some letters but not too many. As soon as we get to our sites, I will have heaps of time to write, so I promise you'll all get letters soon.

I have to run or all the other trainees are going to beat me up.....

Love and miss you all! Take a hot shower for me and appreciate your toilet seats!!!

Love, Erin
